The European Commission has adopted new measures to counteract the circumvention of its anti-subsidy regulations applied to imports of cold-rolled stainless steel (SSCR) from Indonesia. These measures now also target similar imports from Taiwan, Turkey, and Vietnam, with the expansion being a response to the practices of circumventing the initial restrictions.<\/p>\n

Concurrently, the Commission has decided to extend the anti-dumping measures for SSCR from Indonesia to include those from Taiwan and Vietnam. The main goal of this decision is to protect the European steel manufacturing industry, an industry that supports approximately 10,000 jobs in six European Union member states.<\/p>\n

This extension of measures was motivated by the results of two anti-circumvention investigations, which demonstrated that cold-rolled stainless steel products from Indonesia, already subject to anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties, were being re-exported to the European Union after minimal processing in Taiwan, Turkey, and Vietnam.<\/p>\n

The anti-subsidy duties imposed following the extension of the measures have been set at 20.5%, while the anti-dumping duties were fixed at 19.3%. Although these measures are generally applied to all companies in the three newly included countries, there are exceptions for some companies that have been exempted from these duties.
